Live to run...

Any day that I can get out there and lace up my running shoes is a great day. Running has been my resolve the last six years and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every single stride.

The experience of exploring new domains on foot is a surreal experience. It's not about how fast you run, but whether your actually enjoy it or not. I live to run

First time playing Twister

My wife thought it would be a good idea to get Twister on one of her numerous trips to Target. I guess my fault since I should not have been working on the car and freed her up for such trips.

This was my first attempt at this game as was for our little one. She got the concept quickly and was immediately complaining that either her legs or arms were hurting. We let her win of course and it was a blast as everything she says literally cracks us up.

Lazy Sunday

Today was one of those rare weekends where my wife actually had a day off.

We took advantage of the day by spending the day at the Irvine Great Park Farmers market with her brother and their two kids.

It happened that today was one of the most beautiful days that you could get here in sunny Southern California. We love to try the fruits and sample all the goodies at the farmers market. The items we end up taking home are fruits because our daughter loves them.

We also had the time to hit the carousel at but unfortunately the balloon had stopped taking reservations. Until next time I guess.

Irvine Great Park is a work in progress by the city of Irvine. They want it to be one of the largest man made parks to rival that of Central Park in NY. It sits on old Marine airport, so there is still a lot of work to be done. But the rides on the carousel are free and so are the balloon. There are new additions every month and a great place to explore.

Toyota Engines

Whomever designed the 2GR-FE engine in my Lexus should be made to change the spark plugs in the rear bank.

Why would they not think about the maintenance aspect of spark plugs and ignition coils? Albeit they aren't required to be changed till near 100K. In the case of our car one went bad. Took me nearly four hours of manual labor on a Wednesday night to get it done. Even then it was no easy task to wiggle it out.

I suppose if one had rubber arms and hands it would be easy right?

San Diego get away...

My wife and I sped off to San Diego on Thursday morning for a short get away from all the craziness. We had tickets to see Taylor Swift and took that opportunity to make it a two day stay cation.

I had my doubts about T. Swizzle but I'd say she did a great job keeping the crowd engaged and all the tween girls excited. One experience I've never had in a concert before was the punctuality of the start time. There were no major lags between the intro bands and web T. Swizzle hit the stage.

We stayed at the Island Palms right on Shelter Island in Point Loma. I picked this particular spot so that I could use it as my running route. I love San Diego simply for this fact. The weather make it so easy to run and actually enjoy it. Running along the bay was relaxing and made my 9 mile run fly by in a jiffy.

I had a wonderful time with my wife. And soon enough it was back to reality.

Manic Monday...

P140

I started off the morning with a reluctant two mile run. Having still been sore from squats and leg work on Friday I sucked it up.

Once back at the house it was hectic to get the little one all ready and out the door to pre-school. As always we ran a bit late but was able thanks to light traffic to make it in time.

Work was a doozy as always on Monday's. My wife and I arrived home at the same exact time of 8:22pm. It's hard work but when we are all home together we are complete as a family. There is an energy and buzz in the house even though it only lasts about an hour when we all wind down for the evening.

We are back at it again tomorrow, but hard work is what we are all about. Family comes first and that's all we look forward to in the day. Even if it's only for an hour or so. These two girls are the light of my life. Wouldn't change one bit.

Lazy Sunday...

What do my daughter and I do on a lazy Sunday when the wife has work?

We start the morning with a whole bunch of cartoons in our bed of course. The little one will usually watch whatever is on. She enjoys hanging in our bed and not having I worry about hurrying off to school

An hour or so later we will get up and wash up. Since we were lazy to hit the farmers marker we whipped together some cheese quesadillas for breakfast and watched the dogs play in the back.

Now what do we do? I wanted to cut the lawn but we discovered that there was no fuel for the lawn mower. Next best thing was to turn our Sunday into a cleaning day. We managed to clean our coat closer and the kitchen. The counter is spotless and the closet is useful again.

We had many breaks along the way and one of them was turning a shoe box in to a magic stage/robot head. I am so grateful to have a daughter that is willing to use her imagination. Its not always a requirement to buy the fanciest toys. 90% of the time they get bored. It's far more fun to make something of nothing and have your kids create what they want out of it.

When the wife got home we were able to knock out our lawn. Now we are no longer the odd house out in the neighborhood with an overgrown lawn.

It was a wonderful Sunday indeed.

Dogs will be dogs...

P91

I'm a huge dog lover. But there are certain breeds that make me question that. We are babysitting my sister in-laws English Bulldog for the weekend. Let me tell you these dogs have their own unique nuances. That's putting it lightly.

How can one stand the constant drooling and globs of saliva? I had we for about ten minutes playing with our Labrador and he was wet from was to toe. Bathed in her saliva. Gross.
